About the Cause
The GREAT thing about the BC Open is that we actually raise money for a worthy cause - cancer research. We have donated $80,000 for the cause in the last seven years and are aiming for a donation of $25,000 in 2011. This event started as a reason to take a day off work and golf, however since the founder’s grandmother, Rita Barry, passed away from cancer, we turned our attention to having fun but helping a great cause at the same time. Since then the Board of Directors has grown to 5 families, all whom have been affected by cancer and are passionate about working with this event in helping raise funds to find a cure. ALL of the left over proceeds from this event will be donated to the Waukesha Memorial Fund with the donation earmarked for their cancer research programs. We are confident everyone has had to deal with the loss of a loved one because of this horrible disease. Over the coming years, your participation in this event WILL make a difference.
